We provide free, confidential and impartial advice to residents of Salford, and campaign on big issues affecting people’s lives. Our goal is to help everyone find a way forward, whatever problems they face. People come to us with all sorts of issues. You may have money, benefit, housing or employment problems. You may be facing a crisis, or just considering your options
It doesn’t matter who you are, or what your situation is, Citizens Advice Salford will always give you free, confidential and impartial advice.
We value diversity, promote equality and challenge discrimination wherever we see it. We aim to be sustainable, efficient and effective in everything we do.
We are a team made up of paid staff and volunteers. Every year up to 70 volunteers support the delivery of our work alongside a team of paid staff. Our volunteers come from all sorts of backgrounds and help with everything we do; ICT, administration, fundraising, trusteeship – and of course giving advice. Together the work they do helps us to assist almost 20,000 people each year, without their passion and generosity, we wouldn’t be here today.
We provide training that is nationally recognised across sectors and also provide great opportunities for you to find out nore about your local community in Salford from our offices in Salford, Eccles or Walkden.
Volunteer advisers receive full training in the skills needed to help people deal with their problems and learn how to find the information the client needs from our extensive database. Volunteers advisers are supported and supervised as they begin to give advice and will get feedback and development opportunities throughout their time with us. There are a variety of roles and tasks up to giving full advice.
We train people to give advice on the phone and face to face. A supervisor is always on hand to help out with difficult problems.
All our advisers complete a comprehensive but flexible training programme. We aim to have most volunteers advising under supervision with 5 – 6 weeks. The training programme includes:
Minimum commitment level: Once a week
