Our Sports Fairs are a Welcome event not to be missed for anyone with a fleeting interest in Sport! With over 50 stands covering everything from sports clubs to fitness classes and gym membership to volunteering, you can find out everything you'd ever need to know about Team Salford – the home of Sport at the University of Salford.

Whatever your sporting interests or involvement in the past, Salford University life offers a unique opportunity to try something completely new and choose from a wide range of sports and activities. So pop along and check out the world of Team Salford sport - you're guaranteed to make new friends and you may even discover a hidden talent!

Here are 10 vital things you need to know about the fairs:

1. The sports fair runs over TWO days at two different locations, firstly on Wednesday 21st of September in Allerton Hall & secondly on Thursday 22nd of September in the University Sports Centre.

2. Not only is the sports fair free to attend, there is loads of free stuff given out too! Everything from drinks bottles, sweets, pens, key rings, mugs and loads more! Make sure you bring a bag, because if you have an empty new room you will definitely find some stuff to fill it with.

3. At Salford there are over 30 sports clubs which any student can join with new ones starting all the time! Not sure what there is? Click here to visit our website and see a full list of the sports we offer!

4. There are lots of mini competitions on the day with mini prizes. From reaction tests on the Batak machine, to a 1km rowing sprint, to an Archery crossbow competition – come and have a go against your mates!

5. If competitive sport and weekly training isn't your thing, then you can come along to find out more information about our Give Sport A Go programme for people new to sport and our Campus Leagues programmes for those who can't commit to a club every week but still want to stay active.

6. To stay up to date with all the latest information on the sports fair follow @TeamSalford on Twitter and like our Team Salford page on Facebook.

7. There will be various display areas on offer where clubs will be able to showcase what they do. Our martial arts clubs will be displaying their full array of skills on the martial arts mats, but make sure you're out of the way when our Fencing club begin their bout!

8. Various organisations will be attending looking for qualified referees and coaches, so if you are passionate about sport and want to bring in a little extra pocket money while at University make sure you come down and see what's for you!

9. Unfortunately we don't have clubs for every sport ever (not yet anyway!) but students can still compete in BUCS against other Universities. So if your sport is Athletics, Boxing, Judo, Golf, Gymnastics, Sailing, Surfing or Trampolining you won't find a club at the sports fair. However, if you contact us on twitter @TeamSalford we will tell you everything you need to know to pursue your favourite sport.

10. If after attending the sports fair you can't find anything you like, simply get in touch and the Union will be able support you start a club of your own! Email studentactivities-ussu@salford.ac.uk.
