2020 article our picks offers and free content final 01

If there’s one thing that makes us smile during these troubling times, it’s seeing people and businesses offer help and support to each other in any way they can. We’re loving all the companies that are offering free access to their content or discounts on their services in the wake of the current climate. Whether it’s access to software that allows people to work expense-free from home, or apps that focus on improving wellbeing during self-isolation, we’re here for companies that are actively trying to make life a little easier for the public. We’ve listed a few here for you to check out.

Adobe: 2 Months Free

Calling all creatives: Adobe are offering 2 months free on top of your existing membership. Self-isolating is far from ideal, and we really appreciate companies like Adobe providing support for creatives so they can continue designing and editing despite the circumstances. Here’s how to claim the offer:

Sign into your Adobe ID on Adobe.com, go to ‘Plans’ and click to cancel your account (don’t panic, you’re not actually cancelling your subscription). Don’t go through with the cancellation process; instead, look out for the ‘Offers’ section and you should see the 2-month free discount. Click this, and the discount should be automatically applied to your account. TA-DAAAAH.

Once the 60 days are up, you’ll automatically be billed your normal monthly cost. If all you want is the free 60 days, be sure to set a reminder on your phone for 60 days after you’ve set up the discount, so you know when to cancel your subscription.

As far as we know, this offer only applies to customers with existing accounts. We’re also uncertain about how long this offer is on – so get to it ASAP!

Peloton

For many people, quarantine means missing out on daily activities that keep you fit and active, such as going to the gym or attending sports classes. But fear not! Whether you’re a Strava pro or a gym novice, there are tons of apps offering accessible exercises designed to be completed at home. We previously mentioned Down Dog offering all their home fitness apps for free until 1st April 2020 (check that out here), however, fitness app Peloton have gone a step further. Previously, the apps free trial spanned over 30 days, however they’ve upped this to 90 days in light of the current circumstances. Peloton is an app that grants you access to an expansive selection of live and on-demand workout classes. These videos offer a mixture of strength, toning, yoga and meditation classes to keep you on track during any isolation periods. There is also an app available on Amazon Fire TV Sticks, so users can follow these workouts via their TV.

Calm

Calm is a meditation and mindfulness app that aims to improve your meditative practices, enhance your quality of sleep, increase mindfulness and reduce stress. Although some of the features on their app are free to use, they have recently created a blog tailored to individuals who may be experiencing more stress and anxiety than usual due to the current global situation. And it’s all completely free to access! Check it out here:

JSTOR Open Access

Having extra spare time home alone may be a good opportunity to expand your knowledge, either within your own chosen study or a completely new area. JSTOR has tons of open content for you to read free of charge. With more than 6000 eBooks and 150 journals, there’s sure to be something that takes your fancy. Access them here:

NASA Open Library

If you’re curious about what’s going on in the outside world, you’ll be even more intrigued to see what’s popping off in outer space. NASA have made their entire collection of images, sounds and videos available for you to search through online. Have a browse here:

We understand times are uncertain, and it’s normal to experience waves of anxiousness. But if you can get any comfort from this situation, it’s that we’re all in it together. It’s great to see so many people, businesses and communities pulling together during these tough times to offer support for one another.
