Who we are

Working around the clock to provide opportunities for you, we are your Students’ Union!

Independent of the University, we are a democratically run charity, led by elected student representatives.

Our aim? To help you love your life at Salford, and to make your time here truly unforgettable.

From societies and sports clubs to an advice center and volunteering, there’s a hugely diverse range of opportunities we can provide you with. That’s not to mention the amazing food, drink and incredible events at our on-campus social spot, Atmosphere. Thousands of students are already involved in our activity groups, sports clubs, social sports programmes and our student radio station. Why not join them?

Advice and Wellbeing

We’re here to support you and your wellbeing throughout your time at University. Our services will give you impartial and non-judgmental advice when you need it, and to ensure that your academic interests are represented. Whether it’s to do with housing, harassment or health – we’re here to help.

Societies, Sport & Volunteering

Sports

If it’s sports you’re into, then Team Salford is the place for you. There are around 33 different sports clubs that you can get involved with, all run by University students.
Want to get competitive? Our sports teams compete in BUCS (British University & Colleges Sport) against other Universities. There’s also Campus Leagues, with leagues that compete with just Salford students.
If instead you’re after casual, drop-in sessions, Give Sport A Go provides a non-competitive, relaxed environment for everyone to participate in.

Societies

Here at your Students’ Union, we run over 50 student-led societies to suit every interest. They cover all aspects of student life – from academic to liberation, political to performance, international to faith... the likelihood is if you have an interest, we’ll have a society!

Volunteering

Want to give back to the community while boosting your skillset? Maybe you just fancy some fresh air and getting out of the library for a bit? There are plenty of volunteering opportunities we can help you with at your Students’ Union.
Make a profile. Tell us your interests. Tell us the skills you have, or the skills you want. Then we can select volunteering partners especially for you!

International Students

We know that coming to University in the UK for the first time is both exciting and nerve-racking. To help you to settle in at Salford, we’ve got lots of international services on offer!

Atmosphere

Your go-to social spot on campus, Atmosphere is the central meeting point for Students’ Union members. Located in University House, this is where you’ll find great food, great drinks, and great Atmosphere! Our menus are available now.
With live music and sports, fun activities and incredible club events – there's something for everyone. Just be sure to check out our long-standing fan favourite, ‘Bandaoke’.
We’re open every day from 8:30am until late every night, but why not take our virtual tour first and have a look around?

Student Voice

Your Students’ Union ensures that your academic interests are represented to the University and beyond – all the way from Salford to a national level. We create opportunities for students to improve their course and their lives outside of study. Our student voice department helps students create campaigns they are passionate about and also is home to our course reps to support you during your studies.

Your Sabbatical Officers

Meet your Sabbatical Officers: Festus, Amie, Ayo, Jedi and Simeon.
These five elected students work full-time to represent your academic interests, run campaigns that champion the student voice, lead your Students' Union, and to ensure that you have the best possible time while at Salford. Have an idea? Got an issue to raise? Just want to chat? Make sure to get in touch.
