Overview
Carrying out basic vehicle safety checks and completing paperwork 
Loading food orders onto the van, ensuring orders are positioned safely and in delivery order, and unloading on arrival at customer’s address 
Ensuring that CFM customers are dealt with in a positive manner, demonstrating good customer service 
Ensuring orders are transported and delivered at the required temperature and temperature logs maintained 
Driving in a safe, courteous and legal manner at all times  
Ensuring the security of the goods and vehicle 
Loading used trays and cardboard for recycling 
Refuelling the van as necessary (Paid for by FareShare with a prepaid fob)
Cleaning the internal storage area of the van 

Our Requirements
Over 21 years of age, full clean driving licence (or no more than 3 points)

Confident to drive a medium-sized van (experience is preferable)

Good at map reading and able to use a Sat Nav system

Positive, friendly and personable, able to interact well with different people

Interest in the work of FareShare and our values

Ability to follow procedures and instructions

Able to perform physical tasks including lifting and loading

Able to work as part of a team

Adaptable – managing surplus can be unpredictable so day to day routes and drop off points can vary

Expenses

Expenses for travelling to and from FareShare will be reimbursed up to £5.80 per day. Lunch expenses will be reimbursed up to £3.00 for those volunteering for 4 hours or more per day Tickets and receipts are required. All petrol costs for van driving are paid for by FareShare using a prepaid fob.

Key responsibilities

Want to help us tackle food poverty and tackle climate change by diverting good food from going to landfill? We take donated surplus in-date food (supplies which have been over-ordered by retailers) and distribute it to frontline charities and community projects, like food banks; helping to support people who are struggling to feed themselves and their loved ones. We require a minimum weekly commitment of 4 hours per week, every week.  You have a choice of two shifts: 8:30am – 12:30pm, or 12:30pm – 4:30pm. Volunteers are typically involved one day a week with us.
