What is an Officer?

 

Every Salford student can stand for one of the five full-time Student Officer positions

 

As an elected Student Officer you will lead University of Salford Students' Union, ensuring it is representing students and campaigning to improve the life of students at Salford. You will also be a member of the Trustee Board, which is responsible for holding staff to account and overseeing the Union finances to make sure money is spent so it benefits students.
You will work with the Union's staff team to promote student interest in all Union activities and events, including a varied social calendar.

The position is paid with a salary of £22,535.41 and you will work the same hours a week as our Student Union's staff team - for more in-depth information, please email elections-ussu@salford.ac.uk.

Role Overview
President

As President you will represent the voice of students, campaign on issues affecting them and implement Union policy. The President will also chair the trustee board of the Students’ Union and lead the Officer team, championing and supporting their work. You will be the key contact with the University Vice Chancellor and the National Union of Students. You will lead on the union’s strategic direction. You will be the spokesperson of the Students’ Union to the wider community and other external contacts.

Business & Law Officer

As an Officer you will represent students within the School of Business and Law.
You can carry out campaigns that are important to you that affects student life and lead on the student voice for your school, as well as implement Students' Union policy.

Science, Engineering & Environment Officer As an Officer you will represent students within the School of Science, Engineering and Environment.
You can carry out campaigns that are important to you that affects student life and lead on the student voice for your school, as well as implement Students' Union policy.
Arts, Media & Creative Technology Officer As an Officer you will represent students within the School of Arts and Media.
You can carry out campaigns that are important to you that affects student life and lead on the student voice for your school, as well as implement Students' Union policy.
Health & Society Officer As an Officer you will represent students within the School of Health and Society.
You can carry out campaigns that are important to you that affects student life and lead on the student voice for your school, as well as implement Students' Union policy.

 

 

Are you interested in becoming a Voluntary Officer?

 

The voluntary officers work alongside our Student Officers and positions are taken by students who will be studying during the 2023/24 academic year at University of Salford. The positions represent a wide range of liberation groups and interests including: BAME Officer, Women's Officer, LGBTQ+ Officer and International Officer.
