About Us

Who are we? Salford Lions! HERE US ROAR!

The University of Salford Women’s Rugby Union Club welcomes players of all abilities, casual or competitive, who want to develop their rugby skills and get fitter, be part of a team and make friends, or those who just fancy picking up a rugby ball for the first time for the fun of it!

Our experienced coaches can cater for all ability levels in exciting sessions making sure everyone is involved and enjoying their rugby experience!

All you need for training to start with is long-sleeved exercise clothing (to avoid 3G carpet burn), trainers/boots and plenty of smiles. Gumshields will be needed for later sessions, as will towels and a change of clothes if it starts to rain.

Come along to our sessions, bring a friend and TRY rugby for yourself! Remember your first session is free so why not give rugby a go?

Remember, you don't have to pay membership before you attend, your first session is ALWAYS free and you can join at ANY point in the year!

Due to the pandemic, we are not able to compete in the BUCS league this year. However all is not lost as we are planning on participating in friendlies with teams around Greater Manchester, when allowed to do so. To ensure you get the full experience of contact rugby, we have stand-alone tackle bags so you are ready to get straight into action when restrictions are lifted.

Our girls like to play hard and party harder! Official club socials will be monthly with regular meet ups inbetween at Atmosphere Bar and Kitchen - again all members are welcome! As a club, we will tour annually and play other teams abroad whilst enjoying a well earned break with other sports teams. And let's not forget the infamous Varsity tournament against Chester later in the year.
