Rehomed in their purpose built modern studios in University House, Shock are back broadcasting for 2015/2016.

Shock’s new studio with state of the art broadcasting equipment have been created thanks to the £107,000 investment by the Union and the University. This will replace the old studio at the Adelphi building which is closing next year. The investment will have tremendous benefits for students who want to get involved in radio broadcasting and associated industry experience.

Shock Radio alumni have gone onto a variety of careers in communications, digital media, events and journalism.

Work on the new studio space commenced this summer, with some finishing touches still to be completed. This hasn’t stopped the student activity members from getting started though, with a full week of programmes scheduled and starting last Sunday.

Marina Hristova, Union President says “We are so pleased to have Shock back up and running after their short break this semester while work was completed. It’s so nice to have student presence near the sabbatical team offices and integrated as part of the Union, upstairs in University House.

“I’d like to thank the Union’s Student Activities department, University’s Alumni team and the University’s project officers for their efforts making this happen. I know from my experience that student media is such an important part of student’s journey at University.

"I’m proud that Union can make opportunities for students to experience real industry working conditions through their activities memberships. Salford has a great legacy of student media success, and Shock are a big part of that, being the training ground for fresh talent.”
