Celebrating Valentine's Day can be a bit of a pain sometimes, especially as a student!

You're still a bit strapped for cash, and when you do finally find somewhere nice to go, it's already fully booked!

But NOT TO WORRY – here's 5 different dates that YOU can try for when you're looking for love on a budget!

1. Charity shop outfit swap!

Grab your partner or bestie and explore the charity shops...

Our first suggestion is that you find some outrageous outfits for each other to wear – really embracing your inner Wild Child!

Once you've got ready, the next part is to go grab a drink in said outfits and giggle the night away. No-one will notice your leopard-print T-shirt, right?

Well, if you aren’t quite brave enough to bless the world with your new look, why not stay at home and have a mini photoshoot! This can also work great as a big group, Palentine's activity too if you pick names before!

2. The Great Salford Pottery Throw Down!

Are you and your partner the creative type? How about trying your hand at pottery?

We have all seen that romantic scene in Ghost… well, it's your turn to be Patrick Swayze!

  • Going out: There are some super fun valentines themed potter classes happening in Manchester, but...
  • Staying in: If you don’t want to break the budget on a pottery class buy some clay and release your inner child at home!

3. Get a pizza their heart!

This one's an absolute classic – why not make some pizzas from scratch at home?

If you feel extra romantic, you could even make them into the shape of hearts!

Once the pizzas are ready, settle in for a cheesy movie and some cuddles.

4. Picnics... in February!

Claudia Winkleman – look away now! But picnics can be a great indoor or outdoor activity, great for friends or couples – and can be tailored to any budget, big or small!

Wanting to make a big romantic gesture? Take your partner to their favourite place, or somewhere sentimental to you both and pack a meal full of your favourite foods.

You could even go Valentines-themed and eat exclusively pink or red foods!

5. Planning ahead with Lucky Dip DIY!

If you love arts and crafts, and are always stuck for date ideas, then this is the perfect Valentine’s Day idea for you!

In true Blue Peter fashion, this little art project can be put together with things you can find around your house or easily pick-up!

All you need is a jam jar and some paper or some lolly sticks – write down your date ideas, pop them in your jam jar and you’re all set for a year of date ideas!

You can even get super organised and colour code them depending on the activity!

So we hope that you can make the most of Valentine's (or Palentine's) day on a budget with some of the fun affordable ideas above!

Which activity will steal your heart?
