When you get to university, it can feel like you are supposed to know what you are doing.
If you’re having a bad day, things might blow over. If things don’t get better, you can ask for help.
It could seem like little things – feeling sad or anxious, worrying about money, or things happening on your course.
But if you are ever overwhelmed, it is okay to reach out! You might feel comfortable speaking to your friends or family, but you can always look to the services there for you at your Students’ Union.
The hardest part of getting help can be knowing who to ask, but a good place to start is Rafiki.
Rafiki is made up of student volunteers who are here to listen, so if you need support, they can point you in the right direction.
You can find more information about Rafiki at the Rafiki Peer Support webpage, but if you're worried about speaking to someone, you can just send an email: ussu-dropincentre@salford.ac.uk
Or if you’re not sure who to speak to, you can book an appointment with Advice Centre!
Our Students’ Union Advisors are mainly there to support if you’re having problems with your studies, but they can tell you about the best places to get support too.
They can also refer to a food bank, or talk to you about problems with housing!
You can book an appointment or email: advicecentre-ussu@salford.ac.uk
So remember – it really is okay not to be okay, and we're here to help. Because sometimes the best thing you can do is ask for help when you need it!
