Calling all the queer queens, bisexual baddies, gay icons, and all other wonderful allies who want to celebrate this pride season in style!

We have done our research and taken note of some of the best LGBTQIA+ events happening across Salford that you can get involved in this summer.

Let's get straight into it!

USSU at Manchester Pride

For Pride this year, your SU will be a part of the Manchester Pride Parade!

There will be two main events to get involved in, which include...

PRIDE CRAFT SESSION

πŸ“ Mirage Bar, Islington Mill

πŸ“† Thurs. 24th Aug.

⏰ 13:00 – 16:00

We'll have a DJ on our float for the parade, but we need help decorating our vehicle... Come along to our crafts session to help us do just that! We'll also have free accessories for you to have at the parade.

MANCHESTER PRIDE PARADE

πŸ“ Meet-up @ Atlas Bar, Deansgate

πŸ“† Sat. 26th Aug.

⏰ 10:00 – late afternoon

It's time for the main event! We'll meet up in town first so that we can arrive together. We'll then head down to Beetham Tower where the parade starts, along with our newly decorated vehicle!

Pink Picnic

Right on our doorstep in Peel Park this June is the annual Salford Pride Pink Picnic, and it’s back this year for the 12th year!

This event is free-to-attend but relies on donations to run, so if you are able to donate, there are a number of options when you purchase a ticket!

What to expect...

The event will be host to a whole lineup of local talent and headline acts, including Nadine Coyle and Bailey J Mills!

As well as entertainment on the main stage the event will be host to a number of local community groups, charities, and other organisations that support the LGBTQ+ community in Salford.

There will also be a bar tent, food and drink vendors, and so much more!

Pride Classic

β€œGood god, girl, get a grip!”

That's right – RuPaul’s Drag Race winner, Danny Beard, is leading the line up of incredible singers at Pride Classic.

What to expect...

Everyone is welcome to come and listen to the soundtrack of 50 years of love, hope and celebration.

You will be one of the first to hear a brand new pride anthem, composed by local community members and performed by the full orchestra to celebrate what Pride means today!

Head down to Bridgewater Hall, Lower Mosley Street, Manchester on the 2nd of June to catch the awesome show!

The doors open at 8pm and you can grab your tickets online for Β£35 general admission.

LGBTQ+ Map

Artist Hannah McLennan-Jones has displayed a map of the city of Salford in the Lowry at Media City!

This map was created to display the experiences of people in the LGBTQIA+ community or allyship stories.

You can submit your stories through the Lowry website, which will then be pinned on the map!

TOP TIP: Use the 50 bus with your student card to get a free ride to the Lowry in MediaCity.

So there you have it – there's plenty more events taking place over the summer, so keep tuned for any updates!

We hope you have the best pride season Salford has to offer – never be afraid to be exactly who you are and surround yourself with people who celebrate your existence.

Happy pride season! πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ
