Higher Performance Program (HPP)

Supporting the future of sporting athletes

At Salford SU we aim to try and maximise your full sporting potential. We want you to feel like you can still work on your sporting performances while studying at the university. Due to recent successes from our current students, we have decided to bring this program to affect to help support this talent in every way we can throughout the SU.

We have one sporting package that is the same for all, and an easy process to go through to show your interest and to be considered. Please see below for the benefits that this program can provide to you.

Benefits this will include:

  • Free leisure membership at USSU Sports Centre
  • Free club membership if the sport you partake in is a club
  • Free Team Salford Apparel
  • BUCS and external competition support (entry fees)
  • Strength and Conditioning training
  • Sports nutritional advice on booking
  • Rehab support if needed (massage and injury rehabilitation)
  • Performance Analysis sessions (booking only)
  • 3 performance reviews meetings with HPP Manager in an academic year
  • Sports Psychology workshops throughout the academic year

Am I eligible for this program?

To be eligible for this process we ask you to be one of the below three grades at a minimum to be able to be considered.

As well as this we ask you to have the below requirements:

  • Current member at University of Salford, registered onto a course (all courses are eligible, undergrade, postgrad, and PHD students).

One of these grades:

  • Grade B are athletes that play in national competitions all the time and travel around England competing at an elite sporting level for their chosen sport.
  • Grade A are athletes that play all National competitions but also play international competitions and represent England or Great Britain in international competitions.
  • Grade A+ are athletes that are going to be selected for the Olympic games and World Championships for their chosen sport.

Once the application has come in those applications will be put up against each other and then a panel will decide on the chosen 10 athletes based on the criteria set from these grades. We will be in touch to discuss your application!
