Our very own Zamzam Ibrahim has achieved success on a national stage by being elected to the National Executive Council (NEC) of the National Union of Students (NUS) at this year’s national conference. Zamzam was the first Salford student to be elected to a national position since the 2012 National Conference.

The NEC is the main scrutiny and accountability body for NUS officers. The President and Vice-Presidents present a report at each meeting and take questions on their plans of work. NEC also acts as an interim policymaking body between meetings of National Conference to discuss issues which need addressing immediately.

Zamzam was elected in the first round of voting with over 100 first preference votes. She will take up her position on the ‘block of 15’, a group of 15 students elected to hold the NUS Officers to account, from July and we look forward to her taking Salford students views further on a national level!
