Building on the success of 2014, Welcome 2015 promises to be even bigger and better with a large and diverse programme of activities and social experiences. Based on feedback we collected from you and your schools, we have built an exciting programme that gives you the chance to meet people from your course and all over the University.

Welcome is for every student, and with four weeks of action, if you’re new, returning, international, mature, not living on campus or have children, we’ve got an event for you!

What is Welcome?

For new starters, Welcome is the Union’s introduction to your University life. We give you the opportunity to meet new friends, try something different, join new sports or activity teams and help you settle into Salford living. We also offer a chance to get to know the local area and UK experiences. It’s a time to get to know your campus, other students and understand what Uni life is all about.

For returning students, Welcome is the celebration of a brand new academic year. It’s about reuniting with old mates, making new ones and trying something you didn’t get to last year! Welcome is the best time to see all the things that your Union has to offer, including new sports or activities. You might like to join representation teams or be part of our democratic process to develop employability skills! Use our events to meet up with old friends before classes start,

All students are welcome to University House from 7 September where Atmosphere Kitchen and Bar will be serving quality food, drink deals and special themes - day and night, all week long!

Whoever you are, our four week programme is packed with heaps of experiences to try. From major comedy, picnics, sports activities, cultural ad international events, day trips, our famous Trade Fair and traditional Alton Towers day out. We also offer the best nights out in the city, club nights in Atmosphere and of course, the Great British Tea Party. We want you to have a great time and meet lots of new people.

Welcome is your chance to get to know us too. We’ll be popping up all over campus with information about how to become a part of the Students’ Union and what we do. Look for us in our Welcome tees and outdoor stands.

So what exactly is on this year? We reveal all on 13th August, so check in with us on Twitter and Facebook to be one of the first in the know! We can guarantee this is the best programme we’ve ever made and we’re really excited to share it with you. The programme has built by students, for students.

Our partners, the Welcome company will be selling club night wristbands up to Sunday 13th September. If you can’t make it to meet one of the friendly selling team, simply buy online and collect from them from us. Make sure you only buy the official wristbands to avoid missing out on the exclusive Salford student nights.  

Is this just for ‘Freshers’ and people living in halls?

Not at all. That’s why we don’t call our programme ‘Freshers’. We encourage every student to take part in something. We’ve planned our programme in mind for those students who have families, or who have to commute. There’s social and sports events running through the day, so it’s not just about drinking and clubbing (though, we’ve got some of that too!)This is your chance to meet other students like you, make friends and be part of Team Salford.
