Salford Students Shorlisted for The Network

10 University of Salford students have been shortlisted following a competitive national selection process to take part in an assessment day at MediaCityUK for The Network. The Network is a programme which aims to identify and nurture the next generation of talent in television by giving young people an introduction to working in the TV industry The students who have been shortlisted are:

  • Esther Jackson-Burton (Television and Radio)
  • William Carlisle  (MA Film Production)
  • Zoe Charleson (Children’s TV Production)
  • Adam Farkas (Politics)
  • Rebecca Jarvis (Media Production)
  • Emma Laycock (Children’s TV Production)
  • Briana McKellery (International and Online Journalism)
  • Megan Nicholson (MA in Media Production)
  • Natalie Walsh (Radio Production and Professional Broadcast Techniques)
  • Martyn Warren (Children’s Television Production)

The Network runs from 25th - 28th August alongside the Guardian Edinburgh International Television Festival which attracts around 2,000 delegates from the UK’s major networks and production companies.

The assessment centres are designed to spot talented individuals who will earn a place on The Network’s talent programme, which will see the successful applicants spend four days in Edinburgh during the Festival experiencing first-hand what it’s like to work in television. Here they will benefit from access to a variety of tailored workshops, masterclasses, networking opportunities and all year-round mentoring and training.
