Rafiki is the Students' Union's peer support listening service, led by students, for students. Rafiki volunteers help support students while at university, through events, appointments and welfare calls. Rafiki volunteers listen to students and provide peer support, as well as signpost to support services. All our volunteers receive extensive training to help them fulfil the role.
The Students' Union is looking for new volunteers to become part of our Rafiki peer support service. Any Salford students who would like someone to talk to, or if they are having some issues can come to Rafiki. Our volunteers listen to students and offer peer support as well as signposting to other support services.
Rafiki volunteers will facilitate wellbeing activities such as Film nights, arts and craft sessions and Coffee and Brew with your SU. During these events Rafiki volunteers listen to students and provide peer support, as well as signpost to support services. All our volunteers receive extensive training to help them fulfil the role.
This role is not professional; it is intended to provide peer to peer support only, and volunteers cannot provide advice to students. All volunteers will receive extensive training to enable them to fulfil the role, including wellbeing training and signposting training.
Training for this role will be Tuesday 24th January 4pm-6pm in Lewis Latimer (Northside)

Volunteering will help to enhance your employability when you leave Salford. Rafiki volunteers also receive comprehensive training including Wellbeing training delivered by Samaritains as well as information about all the support services available for students, in order to direct students to the appropriate service when required.
Minimum commitment level: Once every two months
