Why Stand to Be An NUS Delegate?

The National Union of Students (NUS) represents all students in higher and further education across the UK on issues of national importance. Over 600 students’ unions across the UK, including ours are affiliated members. NUS runs an annual National Conference which next year will take place from the 28th - 30th March in Liverpool 

NUS have led on many high-profile campaigns, including those on fees and funding, changes to disabled students allowance, welfare and students’ rights, liberations issues affecting groups like LGBT, International students, Black students and many more. 

Benefits of being an NUS National Conference Delegate

  • You’ll be voting on topics of national importance and having your say on the high-profile political work NUS undertakes
  • You’ll be representing the Salford student body – that’s over 25,000 students!
  • You’ll experience an intriguing and exciting conference, meeting students from all over the UK
  • As a low-commitment role, you can hold this position while studying and aside from the 3 days of the conference and an initial meeting with your fellow delegates, you won’t need to spare any more time during the year
  • This is a good way of experiencing Students' Union elections, particularly if you are interested in running for one of our Elected Officer positions next semester!

How to become an NUS Delegate. 

NUS Delegate is an elected position, meaning students can vote for who they want to represent them at the conference each year. To take part in the election to become an NUS Delegate you just simply have to nominate yourself for one of the 6 available positions.  

All you have to do is complete the online nomination form by 12 noon on Friday 19th November. The form can be accessed here (you will need to be logged into our website in order to complete this)

Once you have completed this and pressed submit it will come through to us for approval. Once approved- thats it!

Easy as that - leaving you plenty of time to plan your winning election campaign!

Nominations open:          Monday 1st November at 9am 
Standing closes:              Friday 19th at 12 noon
Voting opens:                   Tuesday 23rd November at 9am 
Voting closes:                  Wednesday 24th November at 4pm
