The Law Society is a society that is here to help and support aspiring lawyers. We are here to support you in your studies and also in your search for a career within the law. With contacts to major firms and events to help further your chances of gaining experience within the legal sector. As a society we aim to help as much as we can, To create a medium that allows students to access legal events that will prepare them for the future and to create an environment that will allow students to take full advantage of the university facilities and allow students a medium to access vital information through already established lawyers and graduated students. we also hope to represent modern day legal groups, therefore students will have a better idea of what the legal firms are like. Most of all we aim to Empower Students.
First of all Mooting will be taking off FINALLY this year!
It is a fresh opportunity for the University of Salford after a hiatus last year. The activity is often compared to a mock trial or a debate on the facts of the law and as such carries a specific set of invaluable skills. Alongside the learning attributes there are both internal and external competitions being planned. Both of which have great networking potential.
More information will be appearing in front of Law Lectures during the first couple of weeks, including the times and days of potential meetings. The first meeting will be a more in-depth explanation of Mooting with the Mooting team fielding any questions you may have surrounding the subject. We hope to see you there!
If you have any specific questions please contact either Shaun Cooper or Emma Clarke.
Other events that will be running this year within the society are as follows;
QUIZ NIGHTS – There will be seminar questions which students can go over and discuss with each other along with a small quiz and also we are here to help and guide you to where you should go if you need more help on understanding the module.
SOCIAL NIGHT! date and time's are still to be confirmed. Atmosphere – Get to know fellow law students. This is great opportunity to talk to each other and have some fun, it’s hard to start making friends during lectures and seminars so this will be a good chance to make some!
