About Us

Salford University Equestrian Society welcomes riders of all abilities and provides a range of lessons to suit everyone. From beginner level lessons for who have never sat on a horse before and simply want to build up their confidence and have some fun, through to an intermediate level, and then an advanced level for riders with previous experience who like more of a challenge!

We ride every Wednesday afternoon at Ashton Hall Equestrian Centre in Sale. Lessons are £15 per person per week for a 1 hour group lesson. Transport to and from the yard is included within the society membership costs.

The society has both an A and B team competing in the BUCS league for 2017-2018. The Championship and Trophy league competitions require each rider to complete a dressage test and a round of show jumps, with teams competing in both home and away competitions.

2016-2017 saw the addition of a new development team to allow riders who hadn’t been selected for the other teams to also have a chance to compete, and we are hoping to continue this for the 2017-2018 season. Other members of the society who aren’t part of the teams are also encouraged to come along to help out and cheer on the competitors on competition days!

Remember, you don't have to pay membership before you attend, your first session is ALWAYS free and you can join at ANY point in the year!

Type of Membership Price Includes
Full Membership £70 Full club membership
Half Year Membership £35 Same access as Full membership but for Semester 1

As well as lessons and competitions, Salford University Equestrian Society organises a wide range of fun social events from bowling to nights out to give members a chance to get to know each other. The society also takes part in the University Sports Tour each year during the Easter break, and competes in the annual Varsity competition against Chester University.
