Trussell

We know that things can be particularly tough this time of year, so we wanted to remind you that your Students’ Union can now refer students in need to a local foodbank.

It is important to recognise when to reach out for support. If you’re feeling worried or anxious when you think about money, it’s time to reach out to someone. This could be worries about paying for the things you need like bills, rent, or even the food in your cupboard.

The Trussell Trust

The Trussell Trust can help students in need to curb their food needs. They are a registered charity providing a network of foodbanks nationwide, who also give emergency food and support to those most in need.

But this is just one small part of the support you can reach through the Students’ Union and Salford University.

We know that worries like these can affect many students and they deteriorate the student’s experience here at the University of Salford. That's why multiple services have been set up to support you.

Here are 3 services available specially for students here at the University of Salford...

AskUs - Money Matters

If you’re having budgeting issues, the university can help make sure you’re getting the most out of the funds you have available.

Advice is available about good ways to work out your budget and plan your spending. If you are experiencing exceptional financial difficulties, they may be able to help you access additional emergency funding.

Click here to find out more on our website, but here's some more details in case you need them:

The Students’ Union Advice Centre

If you’re worried about something and you’re not sure who to speak to, the Students’ Union is a good place to start.

The Advice Centre can support if you’re having problems on your course, with housing advice or even accessing food banks in an emergency.

You can find more information and book an appointment here on our website.

Rafiki

And finally, the student volunteers at Rafiki can offer peer to peer support.

As other students, they are there for you to talk to.They can also signpost you to support services if you need them. You can find out how to contact Rafiki here.
