We’re working with The New Adelphi Theatre to shine the spotlight on some of the incredible work our students produce and have access to right on our doorstep!

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be visiting the theatre and checking out what’s on offer – and sharing with you all the opportunities to get involved and experience live theatre in the heart of our Peel Park campus!

The New Adelphi Theatre presents a wide variety of work each year including professional productions, student work from performance courses, and our societies here at Salford – and this year is no different!

A couple of weeks ago we were lucky enough to be invited down to the theatre to go and see a student society project at the theatre, Almost Famous Theatre Company’s production of Fame the Musical!

The theatre itself is clearly a great venue and we can see why Almost Famous would choose to present their work here!

The front-of-house staff are lovely and the theatre itself allows audiences to have a great view wherever they’re sat, with accessible seating available.

Now onto the performance itself... the show was amazing! It was incredible to see how a group of students came together to make a professional and engaging performance with an industry-standard set and stage props.

Almost Famous isn’t just for performers, the show itself was put together by members who are technicians, directors, choreographers, costumiers, and more! It’s great knowing that anyone can get involved with these performances no matter their experience and background in theatre.

The performers on stage were amazing, the powerhouse voices of the students and the great music added to a great show – and the packed audience agreed because there was cheering and laughing throughout!

It was great to see a mix of people supporting the student show, with other students, staff members, families, and members of the community coming down to the theatre to support the student work!

If you haven’t visited the New Adelphi Theatre before, we highly recommend any of their shows coming up in the next month, with work from local artists, professional companies, and more student society work – including the Salford Comedy Society’s ‘Tin of Biscuits’ show and Salford Uni Dance Society’s “Dancing Between the Lines”.

The theatre provided the perfect location and atmosphere for this hugely successful student project – and we can’t wait to see what’s coming up next!
