The University of Salford Students’ Union supports Salford students in joining students across to country to boycott nightclubs next Wednesday, 27 October.
This boycott is to raise awareness around the recent increase in drink spiking and ask nightclubs to do more to ensure everyone’s safety in their venues.
When asked about this campaign, USSU Women’s Officer, Ellie Webster said “While some bars and clubs have safety measures in place for things like this, we want to make sure all venues take this issue very seriously and do more to help everyone who enters their spaces”
Atmosphere, your venue on campus
As a social space and bar on campus, the Atmosphere team want to reiterate student safety is their main priority. Below is a current list of precautions and measures already in place:
Atmosfear rescheduled
As we continue to support students with this campaign, we have been asked to move the date for our secret location Halloween party. As your Students’ Union, we put students first, as a result, we will be looking to reschedule this event. Details for this will be shared soon.
We want to thank our clubs and societies for coming forward to us with this idea and stand with them to amplify their efforts to change the debate about important issues, such as safety.
We will continue to ensure student safety as we always do and put the measures listed above in place for all our events.
