Today is Time to Talk Day- the day to get everyone talking about mental health. It’s a chance for us all to be more open about mental health, because just talking about it really can make the world of difference. It’s easy to think there’s no right place to talk about mental health, but the more we talk about it, the better life is for all of us. Last semester, the Students’ Union took part in some national research about student wellbeing and mental health, and of the Salford students who completed the survey, 11% said they hadn’t told anyone about their mental health problems. This is an alarming statistic, which shows we all need to be doing more to ensure everyone feels comfortable enough to open up about their mental health. Wherever you are, at home, at university, or at work, have your conversation about mental health.

If you are experiencing mental health issues, you can contact the University Wellbeing service on wellbeing@salford.ac.uk, or call 0161 295 0023. Click here for more information about the Wellbeing service.
