Final exams and deadline season is fast approaching and we know that things can get pretty overwhelming, so it’s really important that you keep an eye on your well-being and look after yourself!

Self-care is so important when things get stressful. During exam season, your free time might not line up with your friends... so it’s the perfect opportunity for some solo self-care time!

Here are some of our top tips for self-care and spending quality time on your own!

Take Yourself Outside

This might seem like an obvious one, but we’re lucky to have some great walking spots around us.

Getting outside on your own is a great first step in spending some quality time on your own if the idea of being alone with your thoughts is quite daunting!

Grab your headphones, choose a great podcast, and head out and enjoy the sights of Salford!

Solo Coffee Date

The idea of going into a coffee shop and setting up at a table-for-one can be quite daunting at first, but it’s another great way to spend time with yourself without being completely on your own!

The atmosphere of a coffee shop makes for a great background distraction if you’re worried about your mind wandering while you’re alone. So grab a book or some uni work and take yourself down to your favourite coffee shop – or even better head to Waterstones, and find yourself a new book to read on your solo coffee date in the café!

Get Things Done

Sometimes the best form of self-care is just ticking off that never-ending to-do list, and what better way to do it than in your own company!

Now obviously if you’re living in shared accommodation, sometimes you can’t always get those chores or your laundry done entirely on your own, but the important thing is getting things done for yourself that will make you feel better!

We recommend writing a to-do list so that you can feel a sense of achievement with every task you tick off.

So we hope you're inspired to take some positive self-care steps and spend some time alone!

(But as a side-note, don't forget there's loads of events here at your SU for when you're ready to get involved in some group activities)
