Today is World Mental Health Day. It’s a day set aside by the World Health Organization to educate and raise awareness of mental health issues.

Every year there’s a different theme and this year its psychological first aid and the support people can provide to those in destress. You can read more about the theme on the World health Organization website.

4 things you can do on campus today for your mental health

  1. Go for a walk. There’s loads of interesting buildings and artwork around campus and Peel Park and the River Irwell are on our doorstep. We have devised some walking routes you can easily fit in to your day.
  2. Crafts. Taking part in craft activities is both rewarding and relaxing. Drop in to our Crafternoon in Boardroom 2 of University House between 2pm and 4pm today.
  3. Get active. Exercise is a great way to boost your physical and mental health at the same time. You can do Zumba or Running Club as part of Give Sport a Go or go for a swim at the Sports Centre.
  4. Chill Out. Visit the Chill out zone all day in the Allerton building.
