Getting involved in Student Activities is a fantastic way to make friends, develop new skills and experience and really feel part of the student community here at Salford.
It’s also a great way to show employers when you graduate that your skills stretch beyond academic achievements.
There are a wide range of Student Activities with something to suit everyone, and remember you can get involved at any time of the year:

- Give Sport A Go - a chance to learn and play up to five sports for FREE
- Give It A Go - pay as you go activities, trips and short classes

Student Activity Groups
The Union has over 70 activity groups you can get involved in, covering every interest under the sun.
You can join an activity group at any time of the year.
Just browse our wide range of activity groups and click on their name to find out more about them. Join online by clicking here.
You must add a photo before you can receive your membership card. Click on My Account, then My Avatar to add one.
Give Sport A Go
Want to get involved in sport at uni but feel like you don't have the skills or time to commit to a club? Then our brand new Give Sport A Go programme could be for you.
You can get involved in up to five sports and it's all completely free. Take part as much or as little as you like and you'll be supported all the way by our professional coaches. What have you got to lose?!

Give It A Go
Give It A Go fortnight is when the Union puts on all manner of activities, trips and short classes for you to try out.
In the past we've held everything from yoga to rockclimbing, with trips all over the north west to places like the Lake District, Blackpool and Chester Zoo.
Give It A Go will take place in early 2012.

Student Media
There is a thriving media scene at Salford - the Union has a weekly newspaper
called Student Direct and an award winning radio station, Shock Radio. Whether you’re a budding presenter or journalist or would prefer a role behind the scenes, you’ll find plenty of opportunities available.
