Best Teacher nomination

For this award we're looking for a staff member whose teaching is of an excellent standard and challenges students to achieve excellence. 
We're looking for nominees that you can demonstrate meet the following criteria: 

1) Show high standards of teaching which are exciting and engaging for students.

2) Give prompt, high quality, personalised feedback on assessed and non-assessed work.
3) Foster independent thinking, while providing encouragement and guidance to improve.
4) Regularly and consistently use interactive technology to assist learning, specifically virtual learning environments (Blackboard, Kahoot).
5) Value student opinions, consulting and acting on feedback from students and their Reps.
6) A commitment to active and appropriate guidance on good academic practice, including correct referencing.
7) Encouraging involvement in extra and co-curricular activities, including the ability to signpost to the Students' Union or University departments as necessary.

8) Being able to teach outside lecture notes while being imaginative and flexible in their descriptions.

9) Showing dedication to their course and subject that is visible to those around them

 

 

Best Programme Leader

For this award we are looking for a programme leader who has a passion for the courses they represent.

Display a patience towards their staff and students

Able to provide useful knowledge regarding the industry they are in

 Show a level of organisation and professionalism.

Value student opinions, consulting and acting on feedback from students and their Reps.

 Someone who is able to gain the respect of both students and fellow staff members

 

Best Support staff member/team

For this award we're looking for a non-teaching focused staff member in an academic school, (technicians, demonstrators, laboratory assistants etc.) or a staff member in a central service (such as the Library, ITS, Student Life, Security, Catering etc).  
We're looking for nominees that you can demonstrate meet the following criteria:

1) An enthusiasm for the overall student experience at Salford beyond their usual role
2) A passion and enthusiasm for the subject / skill involved
3) An understanding of the issues and concerns facing students, and a focus on addressing these positively
4) Excellent customer service and a student-centred approach
5) Knowledge of the Students' Union and University services, and the ability to actively signpost when necessary.
6) Support for students' personal development

 

Best Personal Tutor

For this award we're looking for a staff member who has an excellent commitment to developing and supporting students through their time at Salford

We're looking for nominees that you can demonstrate meet the following criteria:

1) A personalised approach to their interactions with tutees, providing useful and timely guidance on academic and non-academic issues.
2) Have Regular meetings, whether face-to-face or otherwise, to ensure a consistent supportive bond between them and their students.

3) Knowledge of Students' Union and University services, and the ability to actively signpost when necessary.

4) Able to connect with their students on an emotional level.
5) Encouraging involvement in extra and co-curricular activities to aid personal development.
6) A commitment to active and appropriate guidance on good academic practice, including correct referencing

 

Best Postgraduate Supervisor

For this award we're looking for a member of academic staff that shows excellence in the way they supervise postgraduate taught (masters) or research (PhD/MPhil) students.

We're looking for nominees that you can demonstrate meet the following criteria:

1) A passion and enthusiasm for their subject area
2) Provides excellent guidance and monitoring; engaging with their students’ own research in a constructive manner
3) Provides useful and prompt feedback at regular intervals
4) Encouraging their students to disseminate their work, maximise its impact and exploit its results wherever appropriate
5) A concern to support the personal, professional, and career development of their students



Best Society Suppor
tFor this award we're looking for a staff member that goes above and beyond in order to support a student society at Salford. 

We're looking for nominees that you can demonstrate meet the following criteria:

1) Enthusiasm and encouragement for student community building, specifically through the development of course-based groups / societies

 

 

 

Most Innovative Teacher

For this award we're looking for a member of staff that shows innovation in the way that they teach students through methods that aren’t technology focused. We're looking for nominees that you can demonstrate meet the following criteria:
1) A commitment to new, creative and effective methods in teaching, research or assessment
2) Innovate their teaching through methods that are not technology based but include: flipped classroom structures or innovative ways of conducting assessments that different from what usually happens on your course. 
3) A commitment to teach students about broader issues and themes within and outside their curriculum e.g. sustainability.

 

Best Postgraduate that teaches

For this award we’re looking for a post graduate student who has made an outstanding contribution to teaching in any form. 

Please note this award is NOT for somebody who is a lecturer that teaches postgraduates, but for a masters, PhD or postdoc student who teaches any year.
Please demonstrate how they meet the following criteria:


1) Give prompt, high quality, personalised feedback on assessed and non-assessed work.
2) Show high standards of teaching which are exciting and engaging for students.
3) Value student opinions, consulting and acting on feedback from students and their Reps.

Best Student Rep

For this award we're looking for the Student Representative that has truly excelled in their role.

We're looking for nominees that you can demonstrate meet the following criteria:

1) Regular and innovative methods of communicating with the students they represent
2) Listening to students' views and acting on issues raised
3) Attendance at Staff Student Committee Meetings, with regular feedback to students about the outcomes
4) Knowledge of university procedures, and the ability to actively signpost to Students' Union and University departments when necessary

5) Foster a partnership culture where students feel part of their academic community.

6) Achieving real and identifiable impacts for students at Salford

 

Best School Representative

For this award we are looking for a School Representative who has performed above and beyond to represent the interests of their school.

1) Identify and act on the key issues affecting students within the School by conversing with student reps

2) Work together with the Students’ Union sabbatical officers and University staff to find a positive solution to students concerns

3) Knowledge of university procedures, and the ability to actively signpost to Students' Union and University departments when necessary

4) Foster strong communication between themselves and students, listening to their concerns and using it to inform your actions.
