The Students’ Union believes that every student at Salford should be provided with a set of seven basic rights while studying at the University.
'The Salford Bill of Students' Rights' document outlines those rights. Each section of this document is accompanied by a series of recommendations which will be necessary in order for the University of Salford to meet the proposed rights. It is our aim that the University not only accept and endorse these rights, but that they will take active steps to meet the recommendations.
The official launch
The Salford Bill of Student RIghts was officially presented to the University on Tuesday 5 April 2011. At the time, Professor Huw Morris accepted all the recommendations, except the committment to a three-week feedback time, something that we feel very strongly about. Professor Morris' concerns were linked to the fact that many modules at Salford register over 200 students, making a fast feedback time unlikely.
With continued lobbying and work by the Sabbatical officers, we are pleased that the University have now accepted this recommendation, and have placed the 3 week turnaround as a key element in the new Learning and Teaching Strategy.
