The Student Representation System creates a forum for students to express their opinion on those issues which directly impact on their learning experience and to influence change. Students, students as representatives and staff all have a part to play in this to make it successful.
The students on a course elect one person to be their representative. Students should then make that person aware of any issue or problems that may arise. The Student Representative is responsible for gathering student opinion, attending meetings with tutors and support staff to try to negotiate a positive experience for everyone. There are Student Representatives at a course level and Student Liaison Representatives who work at a School and Faculty Level.
Student Representatives can deal with a variety of issues but these are mostly related to academic aspects of the course such as course content, provision of resources, workload, assessment and reading lists.
