July 2009 saw some changes to the sabbatical roles at Salford. The sabbatical officers no longer represent specific sections such as communications, activities, representation etc instead each Vice-President’s (VP) now represents one of the four University faculties.
Each Vice President will focus on representing and supporting students in their particular faculty.
The President role remains the same; the figurehead of the Union and key representative to the University and to external organizations, working to ensure the continued development of the union.

The diagram shows how the Vice Presidents work within the Student Representation system and also wider amongst students.
Step 1: Students talk to their respective Student Reps
Step 2: If the issue cannot be solved the Student Reps talk to their SLRs
Step 3: If the issue requires more attention the SLRs refer it to their Faculty Vice President
Step 4: In some occasions serious issues have to be taken to a student/staff committes or other relevant University structures until it is sorted out.

As Students’ your views matter. If you want you have an issue you want the Union to deal with the first speak to your Student Representative. There is a student representative for each course, these people gather information from students, attend meetings to highlight the views of the students and feedback on progress.
There are also Student Liaison Representatives (SLR’s) in each of the Schools, they work closely with the student representatives identifying the key themes affecting students across the school and taking these to higher level meetings.
The Faculty Vice Presidents will be working closely with all those involved in the student representation system as well as staff and University management to help solve your issues and iprove your experience as a student.
However, don’t forget that your Faculty VPs are always available and you can go directly to them to raise matters which you feel are important and that the Students’ Union needs to address. To find out who the Vice-President for your faculty is and how to contact them click here.
