Next week (16th - 20th May) is Mental Health Awareness Week, and to mark the occasion the University are running a series of activities across the week.

Many of you will be in the middle of you exams, so it is important to take care of your mental health as well as looking out for your friends.

With healthy and supportive relationships helping to reduce the risk of mental ill-health, this year Mental Health Awareness Week is all about celebrating our connections, relationships, and the people in our lives who help us to maintain our wellbeing and make us feel good. It’s also about thinking how we can build new friendships, whether with people on your course or even passing someone at random in the street.

To coincide with this, the University are running a range of activities that will provide opportunities for you to not only find out more regarding mental health, but also to gain new friendships.

Activities include Yoga sampling, head, shoulder and back massages, a Post Grad Lunch, a ‘Walk and Talk’ through Peel Park and along the River Irwell, and much more. You can check out everything that is going on via the University website.

There will also be a chance to grab some free fruit at some of the on-campus information stalls, where you can find out more about Wellbeing Services at the University and other local organisations that can help you too.

If you need to speak to someone regarding yours or someone elses mental health, please feel free to speak to the University’s wellbeing team. If you need advice on getting through your exams, you can check out our advice on not loosing your head this exam season.
