Kassoma - Live music at Bar Yours, 15 May

Thursday 08-05-2014 - 16:58

Fresh from supporting monoliths of UK indie rock, Coldplay, the University of Salford Students’ Union is proud to present, Kassoma.

Ok, ok, ok – the Coldplay thing didn’t happen, it was in fact, a very convincing April Fool’s Day tweet, BUT that shows how good these guys are – their level of success would not be surprising.

One to watch for, Kassoma are a newly formed, Manchester-based alternative rock band including ex-Salford student, Mike “Paz”Johnson.

Kassoma have been described as: 'Anthemic, atmospheric, intense, dramatic and definitely one to look out for in the future' (Real XS Radio).

Paz, Isaac, Nathan and James are excited to be starting their UK tour in Salford and hope to bring students a fun and lively end of year treat or mid-exam break to the Union on 15 May.

You may have already heard them live this year on our own SHOCK radio, playing Music Break with Diana Sadowska, featuring their track 'Headlights!’.

As well as bringing crowd favourite tunes  ‘Arrows’ and ‘Holding knives’ from their recent EP ‘Natural Selection’, the band are excited to try new songs - upping the tempo for  a lively anthemic set. Listen them on their website.

As well as Kassoma, Salford students will also get to experience the sounds of De'NOVA.

Despite their strong Manc roots, De’NOVA live an intriguing story inspired by their ancestry. Coming from various multicultural backgrounds incorporating the spirit of the Philippines, passion of Italy and the quirks of Ireland; the band have an unquestionable drive and focus when it comes to nurturing their music.

Not just another alternative rock band, De’NOVA has their own sound, crafted by playing with bands from all parts of the globe, learning, discovering and experimenting.

The result are a blend of intricacies which cannot be replicated. The chemistry of different thinkers in this outfit delivers a uniquely fine tuned song-writing force.

Listen to De’Nova’s new single ‘Castles’ on YouTube now.

Industry eyes are on these exciting bands now, so catch them early to be part of Manchester music history in your own University bar, 15 May - from 7pm.

'You know you've attended a gig that's made an impact when afterwards, despite you're early start, you find yourself tucked up in bed in a good mood while your ears are ringing to high heaven'   (Never Enough Notes)
